How is the gig economy impacting organizations today?

Kevin J. Mulcahy (Author & Partner, Future Workplace)

Kevin Mulcahy addresses one of the big all-encompassing changes in the workplace today – that of the gig economy. He talks about the transformational focus that has occurred in the workplace with many employees no longer looking for fulltime permanent positions but instead deciding to work from assignment to assignment. Mulcahy discusses the impact on organizations of the popularity of contingent workers who are looking for more flexibility and independence in their work life. Some of the issues he deals with include the uberizatin of personnel, the unbundling of jobs, the growth of blue collar workers as transitional employees, and the benefits of non-employee workers to organizations.
