What is the key to providing feedback to employees in a way that they will listen & receive it?

Kim Scott (Author & Co-Founder, Candor Inc)

Kim Scott talks about how as managers you have to prove to your employees that you can take feedback before you start dishing it out to others. According to Scott, it is important to solicit feedback about your own performance as a manager and do it in a way that makes it comfortable for the employee to provide criticism. She suggests asking the employee the question, “Is there anything I can do to make it easier to work with me?” as a way to break the ice. Scott provides techniques for dealing with employee feedback in a productive way.
