Why is it important to build a learning organization?

Laurie Carey (Executive Career Coach & CEO, We Connect the Dots)

Laurie talks about the importance of Kaizen to individuals and organizations. Kaizen is the Japanese word for continuous improvement. According to Carey, it is important to help leaders involved in making decisions to think about the long term results of their choices and to continuously learn and innovate. For an example she uses the concept of traffic lights which did work to manage traffic but now many people see the yellow light as a challenge to speed up instead of slow down. Instead, installing traffic circles forces people to slow down so many communities are now taking out streetlights and putting in traffic circles.
