CLO Insight Summit 2017 – Jennifer Crumpton interviews Lee Rubenstein – Vice President Business Development, edX
Lee Rubenstein, Vice President of Business Development at edX, talks about what they have accomplished with the world’s only non-profit MOOC. He shares with the Sarder TV correspondent, how and why edX was created by Harvard and MIT including to provide courses at low cost or free to anyone, to conduct a longitudinal research project on online learners learn and ongoing effort to research how best to use technology to improve learner outcomes. Rubenstein discusses how the corporate world only became aware of the capabilities of edX in the last few years and several organizations such as Microsoft have been instrumental in helping to create micro credentialed programs. According to Rubenstein, in a time when fifty percent of current jobs are expected to become obsolete due to improvements in technology, it is essential to reinvent learning options in a way that is economical and makes sense for individuals and corporations.
